Park City
Sunday 7 February 1993

Weather

Late afternoon- weather was clear after a foggy start.

Conditions

There was a good base, thanks to good snowfall. Snow in great condition

Overall

In Salt Lake City for a Security WG meeting there was plenty of opportunity for skiing.

Sunday was a strange day. First of all, I headed up to Park City to give Carol Painting a chance to ski and then I returned to the airport to meet Derek Kaufman for his performance appraisal.

Finally, I headed back to Park City, arriving about 3pm, so I waited until the night skiing started, tremendous value for just $8.

I got in approximately three hours starting at 4pm, under lights from around 5:30. It rapidly got very cold, but otherwise conditions were good, and there were no lift lines. There was some opportunity for varied runs immediately at 4pm, but soon, the only run available was PayDay. This was almost deserted and a great opportunity for relatively fast skiing.

Eventually I stopped when the next run didn't seem worth another long cold ride on the lift.

Easy Runs

Kings Crown - Warm up green run off the beginner (First Time) Lift.
Silver Hollow - Run to base from Three Kings lift
Sidewinder - Run from mid mountain, joined near base
Drift - Traverse from base of Dividend run to Nail Driver

Intermediate Runs

Treasure Hollow - One run from base of Nail Driver
Dividend - Moderate, slightly bumpy run from Payday Chair
Payday - The illuminated run. Obviously heavily used during the day, but in good condition. One or two patches of ice. Virtually empty.

Advanced Runs

Nail Driver - Relatively steep, but recently groomed. Some small bumps as a result of the days use.
